Dr. Kenneth Akizuki

Kenneth H. Akizuki, MD is an orthopedic surgeon who has been practicing in the San Francisco Bay Area for more than twenty years. He is affiliated with multiple surgery centers and hospitals in the area including St. Mary’s, St. Francis, Sequoia Hospital, and Pacific Heights.

Dr. Akizuki attended the University of California Berkeley for his undergraduate college education and attended medical school at the George Washington School of Medicine in Washington D.C. After receiving his M.D., Dr. Akizuki did a post graduate surgical internship and fellowship at Harbor Medical Center at UCLA. He then completed a Sports Medicine fellowship at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City, New York and returned to the Bay Area to complete his Orthopedic Surgery residency and fellowship at St. Mary’s Medical Center.

Today, Dr. Akizuki is a renowned orthopedic surgeon in the Bay Area. He specializes in most orthopedic conditions but patients seek him out for his experience with platelet rich plasma (PRP) injections, cartilage MACI (cartilage restoration), Tommy John Surgery, and Sports Medical Fellowship especially Baseball injuries.

When he’s not in the clinic, you’ll often catch Dr. Akizuki on the sidelines of the San Francisco Giants games or treating elite athletes at many of the Bay Area’s Colleges and Universities. He actively serves as the team physician for the San Francisco Giants, University of San Francisco, San Francisco State University Athletics, Skyline College Athletics, Santa Clara University, and Sacramento State University. He also serves as orthopedic consultant for City College of San Francisco and is the former President of the MLB Team Physicians Association.
